Antelope Valley Amateur Radio Club (AVARC) Fox Hunts | T-Hunts, Transmitter Hunts, ARDF, Direction Finding

Practice your fox hunting skills!

Our next Fox Hunt has been cancelled.

Due to unforeseen circumstances (me screwing up the programming of my PicCon transmitter controller,) I need to cancel the fox hunt tomorrow.  We’ll come up with a new date in the next few weeks.

Dust off your antennas and join us for a fun, non-competitive DF fox hunt.

Be prepared to put your DF skills to the test.  Main transmitter will be my little white Hyundai Accent transmitting on the main t-hunt frequency of 146.565 at 5 watts into a mag mount 1/4 wave antenna on the roof.  There will be a couple of micros hidden nearby if you choose to get out and walk around.

146.565 MHz

Boundaries

The main transmitter will be a 5 watt mobile rig with a magnet mount antenna on the roof of my car.  You’re looking for a white Hyundai Accent with my callsign on the plate.  And possibly a bunch of other cars with antennas on the roof!

Ave D/Ave E is the north boundary,

60th Street West is the west boundary,

Ave S is the south boundary,

50th Street East is the east boundary.

Main transmitter frequency:

146.565 MHz

Be ready for a short walk to find the micro’s once you’ve tracked down the main fox.  Handheld Yagi antennas will be available to find the micro transmitters.

My four micro-transmitters are programmed to the frequencies below.  I will have at least two of them active at the main transmitter location.

Micro transmitter frequencies:

146.425 MHz

146.450 MHz

146.475 MHz

146.500 MHz

This is meant to be a fun exercise to test your DF skills.  There are no scores and you will not be timed for this event.  Just have fun finding the fox and then maybe meet up for lunch afterwards.
